Oh the pain - what an ugly game!

While I was most certainly busy as all hell this week . . . that is only partially the reason for this delayed blog post.  The biggest reason for the delay is me trying to quell the sick feeling in my stomach from watching such a pathetic game by the Giants against the Seahawks last Sunday.  The score of that game certainly did not tell the tale (as anyway who watched the game can attest to).

The gmen were flat, pathetic, uninspired and just plain ugly.  The defense looked confused and gave up 5 passing TDs that were all but uncontested - Seahawk receivers were just running around WIDE OPEN.  The offense was inept and not only committed hordes of penalties but receivers could not hold onto the ball.  Eli was back to his mistake prone ways trying to do too much and force the ball in.

The Giants managed to squander away any momentum that had gained from there heroics the week before in the overtime victory over the Eagles.

While I agree that Shockey often runs his mouth too much . . . he couldn’t be more right.  While execusion was certainly an issue . . . this loss seemed to point directly to some MAJOR coaching issues.  The play calling and game plan was bland at best and most predictable.  It was like watching a pop warner team try to take on a professional football team.  For all of Coughlins talk about Discipline I didn’t see a whole lot anywhere on the field.

As my brother pointed out quite vocally during the game - there is a BIG difference between Discipline and Rigidity.  It seems that Coughlin is nothing but rigid.  He comes into a game with a game plan and then when it doesn’t work, does he make adjustments?  No he just keeps trying to force things.  Not the way to lead a team to victory!

Read this interesting article: “Coughlin’s Tight ship looks like it’s in danger of sinking”.

I’ll try to muster up the stomach for a video podcast tomorrow being that thanks to the football gods the Giants have a bye week so hopefully they have an extra week to right this ship before they piss the season down the drain.
